The whole essence of life is growth in good health, and this is achieved when the body can meet the requirements for its advancement. It happens in phases through a series or process. Any alteration in any of the methods will result in an impairment that will affect the whole system. Leading a normal and healthy life only means that you can eat and digest foods as they come. If at any point, digestion becomes difficult or impossible, then there is cause for concern.
What is lactose intolerance?
In its purest form, it is the inability to digest the sugar in milk and dairy products. This happens when you take milk or any dairy product (yogurt and ice cream), and as a result of that, you begin to feel some discomfort. This condition is often confused with milk allergy.
Some of the symptoms of lactose intolerance to take note of are abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloating and gulping, and the severity of the symptoms depends on the consumed quantity. As much as the symptoms may persist, no damage will be caused to the gastrointestinal tract. The whole issue arises because the enzyme that is responsible for breaking lactose down into glucose and galactose is in great deficiency.
Avoiding milk and dairy products will help remedy the issue. However, total abstinence from these foods can be almost impossible, except if you will stay away from any form of processed foods. This is because most of these foods have some quantity of lactose in them.Lactose Intolerance Supplements help the body to maintain the enzyme level in the body and even provide with more enzymes to break down the sugars in milk and dairy products. Our popular product Diagesta alpha has some digestive enzymes that improve gastrointestinal (GI) functioning.
Allergy is not the same as intolerance
It may interest you to know that lactose intolerance is not the same as the allergy to milk or dairy products. If you are lactose intolerant, it only implies that there are some components (mainly lactose in this case) that your body finds offensive due to its inability to handle it. In other words, your body does not have enough enzymes to process, digest and absorb these nutrients which then results in some complications that were mentioned earlier on.
The fact that you are lactose intolerant does not mean you cannot take milk or dairy products. It is only when you take an amount more than what your system can handle that you begin to have issues. On the other hand, when you experience an allergy, it may have to do with the immune system working against some proteins in the foods in question. The body takes the proteins to be harmful and injurious and quickly secretes antibodies known as immunoglobulin E. These will result in some strong allergic reactions in any part of the body depending on your genetic makeup. Unlike food intolerance, the tiniest amount of the food, when someone is allergic to it can result in some serious complications.Lactose Intolerance Supplements
